After my Grandma past away in 1985, my sisters and my Mother and I combed through Grandma’s Pennsylvania home for what treasures we each wanted to import to our own homes to honor her memory.  There was (what I called) the Silly Lamp, which had been a part of Grandma’s bedroom for longer than 70 years.  The Silly Lamp went home with me.

Until last week, that Silly Lamp was moved from room to room; was banished to dark corners, was dusted once in a while, and never, ever occupied A Place of Honor anywhere in my home – it was just a Silly Lamp with memories of Grandma.

I brought the lamp to Nancy, Guru of Lampshades, at Conant Metal & Light to see what she thought about my Silly Lamp.  Nancy plucked off the old shade and, with a twinkle in her eye, ran upstairs to Conant’s extensive Shade Room.  Nancy returned with an absolutely fantastic shade that transformed the lamp. Grandma’s truly beautiful vintage lamp came to life is now proudly displayed in my dining room.
